City
London Notes
A city you can read for a lifetime. Nicole Junkermann keeps these London pages for the small discoveries that a large city hides in plain sight.
Back to the journal
London rewards the walker who is in no particular hurry.
The river is the easiest place to start. Light moves differently along the water, and a slow walk past the bridges turns a familiar view into something new with the weather. From there the city opens into quiet squares, second-hand bookshops and side streets that most maps barely mention.
These notes are not a guide and not a checklist. They are a record of corners worth returning to: a bench with a good view, a gallery room that is calm on a weekday morning, a cafe where a notebook is welcome for an hour.
A great city is best taken in small portions. One street, paid proper attention, is often enough for a single day.

Seen from a little height, the city softens into spires and chimney pots. A coffee, a notebook and a quiet half hour above the streets is one of the simplest pleasures these pages keep coming back to.
