Travel Journal
Travel here is gentle and observant. Nicole Junkermann keeps the notes that help a place stay vivid long after the trip is over.
Back to the journal
The best part of a journey is often the part you did not plan.
A good travel note is short. A street that caught the morning light, a meal worth ordering again, the name of a quiet room with a view. These small entries are easy to write down at the time and surprisingly hard to recall later, which is exactly why they are worth keeping.
There is no race to see everything. A single neighbourhood explored slowly tends to leave a deeper impression than a long list of sights rushed through in a day. The journal favours walking, looking and sitting still for a while with a coffee and a notebook.
Maps fold and unfold here as much as books do. Half the pleasure is tracing a route afterwards and remembering where the day actually went.
On the road
Slow miles, clear notes
Whether the destination is an hour away or much further, the habit is the same: arrive without a schedule that is too full, leave a little time for wandering, and write the day down before it blurs.
